Movie outside of class - Borat

Borat is hands down my most favorite movie of all time. I could talk endlessly about it but I will get to the point. The director was fa-nominal in the way he made this movie. He took the different classes of america and really expressed how they are viewed and how they view others. Being a foreigner myself I felt really close to the main character because, that is how I felt when I moved to america in a way. The director did a fantastic job with relating to stereotypes and the views from others. Borat was a reporter from Kazakhstan that took his best friend with him to make a documentary about living in america. He met all type of different races such as ghetto blacks, Rich whites, and Rednecks from a foreign perspective. The gaze in this was amazing because Americans got to witness the average feel for how it is to be a foreigner in a different country. We got to witness America through Borats eyes and feel/see what he was going through. The sound in this movie was also very sharp and detailed throughout. Borat encounters a bear throughout his journey and takes it for a ride in his ice cream truck, and when the bear roared it scarred away all the children wanting some ice cream.   This movie is hilarious and i highly recommend this to anyone who hasn't seen it because it is truly a masterpiece. This movie shows that you shouldn't judge someone on their outside but for the person they are on the inside.

Jaws - The Second time

At the beginning of the semester we watched the movie Jaws. Watching it the for the first time already blew my mind. We had to watch it at the end of the semester with having this new knowledge we were taught throughout the semester, and I have to say I definitely appreciated this movie more. I don't know where to begin on this. First of all I never realized how sound was so important in movies, and Jaws was a great example of master sound. When the 2 men went out to hunt for the shark , the ocean sounded so crisp and easy on the ears. Even when they were battling the shark, the way the sound was set up made it so much more dramatic and really made me feel the environment they were in. Next what I have noticed was the way the director decided to shoot this movie. He really developed all of the characters in their unique way. The captain of the boat was just a bad ass with no fear , and then he has this scientist with him who at the beginning was a measly man who was very afraid of this shark. But then you get to see the transformation throughout of the measly man turning into a brave shark slayer. It shows that the average man can be bigger than life if he really tries. The Gaze is also something that should be considered in this movie because there were so many different views from everyone. The captain, The police officer and the scientist are the biggest influence of the gaze throughout and I really recommend anyone who hasn't  viewed this movie from a critic standpoint to check out those 3 things I have mentioned and see the big difference watching it again.
